Do you think that California is going to have a big earthquake next?...because Japan just had a big one!?

Ten years ago, Japan had a big earthquake on January 17. Exactly one year later on January 17th (the same date!!!) California had one. and it was big...so this time do you think California will have a really big one??

The Pacific "Ring of Fire" does seem to have been particularly active lately. This year we've had major earthquakes in Chile, New Zealand and Japan. Does that mean the U.S. West Coast is next? Scientists don't know enough to say for sure. All we know is that California and the Pacific Northwest will have big earthquakes eventually. We just don't know when. If you live in those regions, the best thing to do is be prepared. Keep an emergency kit on hand, and know what to do when The Big One strikes.
