I'm not Japanese, but I can answer your question.The closer a person lives to a US base, the more unhappy they tend to be that the US is there. There have been rapes, murders, robberies & assaults committed against the local Japanese by American military personnel.
I think most Japanese realize the US military needs to be there. The PRC & North Korea are both major threats to that area.
