Question:
Hi! I'm looking for a bunch of cooking books to buy but I can't seem to figure out which ones. I'm interested in cooking foods from a variety of cultures. Such as italian, french, turkish, japanese, russian, chinese, german, greek, mediterranean. the list could go on. but i'm looking for books that can help me make traditional/authentic food from that country. for example if a recipe is asking for a ingredient that has to sit out, or squeeze or peel etc and the recipe just wants you to buy it pre preprepared i don't want it. I want to also know the techniques and the correct measurements (like i heard somewhere that an onion in america is equivalent to 3-4 onions in india) i don't know if thats right but i hope im wording myself correctly. Here are some books I think would be good, but if you know a better one can you please tell me and where to buy it. Thank you!
Here is a list
1) La Cucina: The Regional cooking of italy by the italian academy of cuisine
2) Mastering the art of french cooking by Julia Child
3)Arabesque: A taste of morrocco, turkey, and lebanon by claudia roden
4) Food of life: ancient persian and modern iranian cooking and ceremonies najmeih batmanglij
5) The complete middle east cook book by Tess Mallos
6) the classical cookbook by andrew dalby
7)Around the roman table: food and feasting in ancient rome
So yeah, those were just a couple, im just really indecisive. if you have any suggestions please say! and if you know any good books of herbs and spices and ancient cooking (rome, greece, persia, china, india) all that jazz. sorry if this is a lot
