How to address someone in Japan?

I'm writing something and it involves characters in Japan. The main character is American and is unfamiliar with their addressing customs. I would like to know all of the different ways they address each other, ex: "Where are you going now, Hikaru" As well as for doctors teachers etc etc. Addressing different age groups of both genders if they do that.
