Japanese translation question..?

Question:

ふふっ、見てくれてありがとう。
--
私のダンスはどうだった? ふふっ、ご主人様、見とれてたでしょ?
Google translate says "shake off" What does this mean?

今のままの方が弄りがいあるじゃない? ご主人様は特別よ。
--
ふふっ、そうよね。ご主人様は私のこと大好きだもんね。
Also, google translate says "your husband". What is this? /not husband

Alsoalso, she is "sadistic" and it is a master-maid relationship..

Answer:

LOL 98% of the requests for translation are from porn! It's funny when people pretend that it's not. "I, uh.... studying for the Japanese test....yeah. " At least you're honest about it.

goshujinsama: 主人様Master

Fufu: ふふっ Is a laughing sound, like "heh heh." Onomatopoeia. Google translate is worthless.
This is fun! I'm gonna start an online porn translation service called "Fap fap fap Japanese"

What does kusuzame mean?

Question:

I know tha kusuzame means japanese angelshark but does it have some sort of deeper meaning? I was reading this story where a guy called his friend a kusuzame. what was the meaning behind him calling him this sort of name?

Answer:

At first, japanese angleshark is kasuzame (not kusuzame).

"Kasu" means trash or dregs, "same" (zame) means shark.
So "Kasuzame" might means "worst shark" or something.

Maybe the guy just wants to say "you fool" or the friend looks ugly like kasuzame.

Hello, I'm doing a Japanese presentation on food theme parks and I wrote a few sentences about ikebukuro gyoza stadium, Can you please point out any mistakes for me? my grammar skills are like 75% accurate =[. i would really appreciate it. thanks in advance.

What i'm trying to say:
1. now, lets take a look at a food theme park in tokyo.
2. it is a place called ikebukuro gyoza stadium.
3. The atmosphere is 1950s tokyo theme.
4. Here, there is a collection of 11 famous gyoza stores.
5. It is located in tokyo's namco, nanja town.
6. you can eat the most delicious gyoza in the world

Looking for a friend to text in Japan?

Question:

I'm looking for someone in Japan that would like to be my friend over the phone. I would love to learn some Japanese from them and just learn about the culture. If you're interested, email me at shadekurotenshi@gmail.com

Answer:

You're better off using something like skype. I don't think you can get international texting for free. Many Japanese have to pay by how much space is used up in each text message.

What age do you have to be at least to be a nurse in Japan?

Question:

What age do you have to be at least to be a nurse in Japan?

Answer:

I don't think there is an age minimum but generally nurses go through nursing school and additional education after high school, so generally the entry level age would be above 18, most likely someone in their early 20s as a starter.

First of all you need to stock up on the basic Japanese cooking pantry ingredients. I have a list of the Basic Japanese Cooking (Pantry Essentials) here

Some of my favourite easy Japanese recipes to cook at home are:

What are some good Edo period sights in Tokyo?

Question:

I'm going to Japan for work later this year and am very interested in the samurai culture, specifically, the Tokugawa period. What are some good destinations in and around Tokyo?

Cheers,

Ravyn

Answer:

Unfortunately, very little outside of the Edo Castle (Chiyoda ward) district has survived from the Edo period. This is because the Kanto area has suffered several devastating earthquakes and the resulting fires in the last 300 years, not to mention the destruction from WW2. The last earthquake (2nd only to the recent earthquake disaster that resulted in the tsunami damage) was the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923 which destroyed over 75% of the city.

There are musuems with exhibits from old Edo - here is one website in English: http://www.edo-tokyo-museum.or.jp/englis…

If you get time, I highly recommend Toshogu Shrine in Nikko which is a good day trip to one of the more beautiful preserves in Japan where Tokugawa Ieyasu is enshrined.

Japan - country of contradictions?

Question:

Anyone out there knows Japan and the Japanese in-depth to discuss?

The Japanese seem like a land of contradictions. I can cite so many examples, but if you know what I mean post here. The most obvious example is the extreme mix of traditional with the modern. But this is the most superficial example to illustrate the point.

of course feel free to use e-mail to let me know if you want examples of what I mean

Answer:

You have to remember the Japanese obsession with balance. Everything has to be balanced. If the outside is noisy, they want their private time quiet. If they have something mushy for dinner, they will add something crunchy to it. If they have concrete and asphalt in their environment, their tiny backyard will be a garden with a fountain. Everything has to be balanced. To an outsider, it might seem like a lot of contradictions, past with modern, tradition with innovation, but if you live there for a while you will start to get a feel for the harmony they are seeking- everything is quietly and silently being balanced with an opposite. That's my understanding anyway.

Can I please have mixi invitation?

Question:

Answer:

You no longer need an invitation to join Mixi now. They have changed their system. What you need is an email address of Japanese cell phone.

well they pull down their lower eyelid and stick out their tongue at people and the person they do it at gets angry, what does it mean if someone pulls down their lower eyelid and stick out their tongue?

It's provocative gesture. Mainly children use it.

Provocative means they express something like F-word in English.

But I thought they had something like that in other countries. So I'm surprised to know that other people don't have it.

Japanese Coca Cola is different?

Question:

I have heard that coca cola has less calories in Japan - or at least this is what the bottle states on its side. Does someone know if this is true?

Answer:

If you're talking about "Zero calorie", I've read somewhere that it's because of the labelling regulation that's supposed to be decided by each country according to the law.
If the product has less than 1 kcal/100ml, they can label "0 calorie" in Japan.
*The labelling seems to vary like some countries show 0.27 kcl or 0.75 kcal for the same "Zero"

----edit:
OK, the following would still work for "basic cola drink"
Moreover, according to Wikipedia's Coca-Cola (Japan), it says Coca-Cola may taste subtly different (RANGE OF ERROR) from factory to factory.
Or, once I really liked Vietnam coffee that I had in Ho Chi Minh, and brought it back to Japan. But the same coffee somehow tasted different. I thought it's because of the climate (i.e. humidity does matter how the drink goes down your throat...)

Where/how to meet people who like visual kei?

Question:

The only obvious place I know of is at gigs (gigs that take place at cons), but in Toronto those only happen about twice a year (and I missed one because of exams ><). So far I've been gravitating towards people who like anime and then trying to figure out what they listen to but most of them only listen to music specifically from anime.

I know there's no clear-cut answer, I just want to know your personal experience of where you met people or how I can make it more obvious I like vkei so maybe I can attract people. It gets kind of lonely spazzing about new releases and stuff by yourself.

Btw, sorry this is in the Japan category. Figured if I post it in music I'd have less of a chance of people knowing what I'm talking about.

Answer:

I live in Toronto and I like Visual Kei!
I haven't been to any cons though, I missed BLOOD when they performed at Dotcon last month. )':
You can message me!!!! ^ ^ I'd love to be your friend.

Where to buy stationary in Tokyo?!?

Question:

Hey,

I'm a big fan of Japanese stationary, does anyone know if there's a good stationary store with a large selection in Tokyo? - I'll be passing through in a few days.

I've heard "Tokyu Hands" in Shibuya and "Ito-ya" in Ginza are pretty good, any other suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Answer:

Tokyu Hands in Shinjuku is one of the best and they have a huge selection. I also recommend the Daiso 100-yen shop in Harajuku, which is one of the biggest and best in Japan. They have a lot of Japanese stationary and it is very affordable.

What do you think of the Japanese Communist Party?

Question:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_Co…

JCP basically does not form a coalition with other parties. So they have never been a ruling party or at least a part of it. But they always have a certain number of seats. So they sometimes have much influence in Japanese politics.

Tokyo places of interest?

Question:

I'm going on a holiday to Tokyo from 12-18 dec. Family of four, two 32 year old adults and two kids, 12 and 14. We'll be going staying in the central Tokyo, any places of interest? Nothing too transitional or expensive. We'll be going to Disneyland. And could you add in way of transport, we'll be taking the train! Thanks!

Answer:

I really like Asakusa Temple. It's free. Very touristy but if you want an interesting temple and interesting shops in the area it's a great place to go if you don't come to Japan often. You can get many trains. Asakusa station on the Asakusa or Ginza line.

The other suggestions were great. Have fun in Tokyo.
