Question:
I'm going to Japan in September and normally during that time in the US I would wear flip flops 24/7. I understand that it is culturally customary in Japan to remove shoes in temples, someones home, etc. Can I wear flip flops and no socks? Or must every outing be worn with socks - including summer sandals? I guess the more appropriate answer is if its ever ok to go barefoot in Japan.
Answer:
It's OK to walk without socks when you are wearing sandals.
