Does Otaku おたく also mean "you" in japanese?

Question:

I used to play this this game called "my japanese coach" and it said that using anata was alittle rude and informal and japanese people prefer to just use the persons name instead but if for some reason you want to say "you", then you can use the word otaku おたく which you probably know to mean "anime nerd" but it also has another meaning of you.


Is this true. Im alittle skeptical because if i use this word it will mean im trying to be formal and i dont want to call people im trying to be polite to a nerd -_-

It should be:
Otaku　おたく means "you", it's ALSO slang that describes 'geek', like "anime nerd"

"お宅のお子さん otaku no okosan", meaning "your child' but used towards 'strangers'
"お宅はどちらですか？otaku wa dochira desuka?" to strangers/ to superior
meaning "Where do you live?"　

"anime nerd" are said to use "お宅 otaku (meanig YOU)", even toward their 'classmates'.
e.g. otaku, shukudai yatta? --> sounds weird (meaning "Did you get your homework done?")

That's how the word "otaku" started describing those people, actually.

*Referring to "otaku" makes longer distance relationship.
