Places to visit in Japan? ?

Question:

Ok so seriously, im so tired of temples, Tokyo, and shopping districts. Where are the unique stuff that everyplace has. For example, France has the catacombs and underground opera house. Google keeps turning up the same results for 'unique', 'strange' and interesting places in Japan. So please anybody out there tell me about some cool places in Japan other than where everybody always goes. So no kyoto, tokyo, okinawa, kyushu, onsens, and sapporo! Any help is immensely appreciated. Thank you.
