Japan, can I go there?

Question:

This summer I'd like to go to japan to help out. My question is will I be allowed to go there and help with building houses and feeding them and stuff?

Answer:

You will most likely not be able to just goto Japan and help with reconstruction. The only foreseeable method to do so is if you find a group like habitat for humanity that is organizing a trip like this, and I don't think they do that kind of thing.

If you are fluent in Japanese you may be able to go over there on a visitor visa and scout out some information about joining some kind of volunteer program but even that's probably a slim to none chance.
