Did people die in tokyo while the earthquake happened?

o-o i love tokyo its my favorite place to go:)
but im so worried about my family members there they moved cuz my uncle got a job there but they are fine

Answer:

There may have been a small number of people who died from things falling on them, but pretty much all of the deaths were caused by the Tsunami, and not the actual Earthquake.
