Huh. Well yeah actually it looks like it will work over there. According to ATT's website you need a 3G phone operating at 2100 MHz, and the Impact does do that.
Ok as you were. You said pursuit not impact didn't you. Well no sorry your phone is no good in japan. It doesn't work in the 2100 MHz frequency, sorry.
