Japanese culture teapot as a gift?

Question:

My friend is very into the Japanese culture and follows alot of Buddhist beliefs,I have a beautiful white Japanese (or Chinese?) white teapot with a red dragon on both sides,which I rarely use and I thought he might appreciate,and he does love tea,I just wanted to know if there was any symbolization in giving him this teapot,and if there was any other way I could make it special for him by giving it to him,I want it to be a small surprise..thanks :]
