Question:
hey guys,
going to japan for a few days next week. going first to tokyo for 2 days. going to get JR passes at narita, and buy the metro passes (it's 600 when bought in airport, compared to 710 in the city).
till now, my plan is to buy tokyo metro open pass, which includes free usage for the 9 tokyo metro lines. are there any better options? or is this metro pass fine for basic sightseeing around tokyo?
also, what other kinds of tours/passes/deals can we get in narita airport?
thanks!
Answer:
Tokyo Metro is not the only railway lines in Tokyo. We have JR, and many other railway lines.
So if you bought Metro pass, you can take only metro.
There is a pass called Tokunai Pass which will enable you to take all JR trains in and around Tokyo. That is 730 yen.
But again, you can take only JR trains with this pass.
So the bottom line is, it's better to buy a single ticket every time you take a train. Or buy Suica/Pasmo prepaid card.
Addition:
Oh, I didn't notice that you will get JR Pass. So you don't need Tokunai Pass as you can take JR trains with JR Pass.
