How bad is the Japan situation?

We still are getting no REAL news...on how bad this is going to be.
In the USSR almost 1 million people died ...and their reactor was in the middle of no where
There are 30 million people very close to these damaged reactors

If you are talking about nuclear reactor, well, there is some contamination.

Vegetables and other crops from regions around the plant has been banned to exporting to some countries.

People who lived 30km radium from the plant have been ordered to evacuate. But there's been no death report from radiation, fortunately.
