Japanese school system?

how many years does a japanese student spend in:

kindergarten?
elementary
junior high
high school
college

and what are the exams they have to take? i heard that before entering hs, a student must take a certain exam, besides the entrance exam?

you have to take the entrance exams before entering high school and college.
some ppl take the entrance exams to enter private(some national) junior high , elementary ,and kindergarten.
