Out of curiousity if theres alot of yuri anime shows does that mean japan has alot of lesbos?

just wondering why so many anime shows have so much yuri in them? is it that way in japan in real life? i understand of course there are more straight people in the world but why does jaan cartoons have so much yuri.

Yuri is a popular in anime/manga because it is a poplular "trend" in the West-meaning North America and Europe. So that is why it is shown in most of the shows now. There aren`t very many lesbians in Japan, it`s actually looked down on.
