Well I have my eye on a used kimono from Ichiroya and it is 1.55 kg. It would come through USPS from EMS. When I ordered a Bento box in Nov of '08 and had it shipped EMS I didn't have to pay anything- just sign my life away to get it from the counter. Would there be any customs fees to get this kimono?

It's pretty much impossible to say since we're not customs agents. I have never paid a customs fee on any of my international purchases in my life. On the other hand I know people who have, even though we live in the same country, ordered from the same country, and bought similar things. So yes, there might be customs fees on the kimono. On the other hand there might not.
