What does watashiwa mean in japanese?

Question:

i'm doing a japanese project. and i need to know what 'Watashiwa' means in japanese. Please help me!

Answer:

watashi wa

watashi means, I, and wa means as much as "as for" it refers to the I.

So together it means, As for me.

Eg: Watashi wa nihonjin desu.

literally means, "As for me, am Japanese"

EDIT:
To the two answers below me: It is definitely not "I am". am is the verb 'to be'. Where in "Watashi wa" do you see a verb? If anything, I am would be "Watashi wa imasu", but that sounds kind of weird, as the Japanese often omit the subject.
