At what year did Geshia's begain? Did the Geshia's first start out in Japan?

Answer:

There really isn't one set date. The 18th century is about as specific as you're going to get. However, there were many other kinds of workers who predated geisha but had certain geisha-like traits, such as the odoriko (very popular in the 1680s) and even the Shirabyoshi dancers.
