Is it the italians or japanese who slurp their noodles?

i live in a city with a large vietnamese community and i know italian-americans, but no one actually from italy. in vietnamese culture (as well as some other asian cultures) it is actually considered good manners to slurp and smack while eating. it lets the cook or the host know that the food is good. europeans generally have the same type of manners we do, but i don't know about italians in particular when it comes to slurping. none of the italians i know do it.
