Similarities & Differences in the Mechanization of the cotton industry in Japan & India?

I'm doing an practice DBQ for my AP world history class, but I need help analyzing similarities & differences in the mechanization of the cotton industry in Japan & India in the period from the 1800s to the 1930s.

A big difference is that Japan is NOT a producer of cotton (an importer) while India has been a top (or the second) producer & exporter.
The period from 1800s to the 1930 seems pretty old... however, early in 1960s, my father had been involved in cotton-importing and he seems to have stayed in Australia for a couple of months to join in planting.
