Question:
Since K-pop (very westernized, hip-hop influences) is extremley popular in Japan and is mainstream there - why do you think the Japanese artist's are still making music thats the same autotune/high pitched/kawaii stuff? And why isn't Japanese following other asian countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan - and creating groups of K-pop influence?
Answer:
First of all, it's fake that K-Pops are mainstream in Japan.
Of course some people likte them, but most of Japanese prefer J-Pops and J-Rocks like B'z, Mr.Children, these days Ikimonogakari rather than K-Pops.
Even "kawaii" is not really popular in Japan, it is just well known outside Japan.
Japan is the second largest market of music in the world, so many Japanese just don't really care about other countries.
