I will be in Tokyo for New Year's Eve. What are good clubs to go to for New Years? Will I have to purchase i?

Will I have to purchase in advance? Also, has anyone been to tokyo for new years when it is congested? will i be able to get around? how much chaos will it be compared to busy season in NY or Chicago?

Answer:

Tokyo will be more or less dead for New Years Eve, and the following 2 or 3 days. Same with most cities in Japan. There might be some clubs open that cater to foreigners, but I don't know. I had a lot of trouble finding anything open in Osaka during New Years a few years ago. Oshougatsu (New Years) is a time to be with the family, it's not at all a party day like it is in America.
