How are Japanese girls?

Question:

I'm 30 single-handsome (blonde, green eyes, 6'1") ~

I'm going to Japan for a year, at least. I'm a very sexual person and want to know how to woo Japanese women, I'm not into relationships ~ just sex, I'm a gentleman to girls however a relationship just isn't for me. I prefer girls 18-25 how are girls in this age range? The fact that Japanese women are so submissive and kinky in the bedroom excites me. So lead the way fellas! Tell me what'll make a Japanese woman fall in love, for a night at least.

Answer:

I think you're going to be very disappointed. Never met a Japanese woman, have you ? Well, I've known many. Not one was submissive or kinky. Most Japanese women aren't loose. They are even less loose with gaijin.
If you just want to play you'll have to go to a gaijin bar where Japanese women might hang out looking for gaijin men. But watch out. One can bleed you for what money you have use you and then dump you. Japanese women can be very smart. They can play the same games you intended to play on them. You're on their turf, so they have an advantage.
When sex / money comes into the picture, you sometimes have to worry about the yakuza. Not nice guys to deal with when you owe them money.
Be careful, pal.

Need japanese translation please?

Question:

I have a japanese friend and she´s turning 18 next weekend... Now she lives here on the us (perfect english) and she´s a japanese survivor...Came here on time. Also, she´s an anime otaku. So we´re doing a big surprise party for her. And we´re older than her and she´s petite and cute-looking so we call her our little sister (imouto?) Her name is Rina. So we´d like something funny and kawaii like ¨Happy 18, Rina-chan. I guess we can´t call you imouto anymore :)¨ How can I say that phrase? please in both kanji AND romaji if possible.
Arigato

Answer:

Hi, I'm Japanese.

Yae, "little sister" is "imouto"

"Happy 18, Rina-chan. I guess we SHOULDN´T call you imouto anymore"

translate into Japanese,

"リナちゃん、18歳の誕生日おめでとう。
もう妹とは呼ばない方がいいね。"

"Rina-chan, juuhassai no tanjoubi omedetou.
mou imouto towa yobanai houga iine"

How much does a vacation to Japan cost?

Question:

Flight, hotel,car?, etc.

Answer:

Airfare from the US is usually around USD$1200-$1500 depending on port of departure and time of year.

A regular hotel will set you back about USD$100 a night for a single room or USD$150 for a double. Try a Business Hotel for a good compromise with prices around USD$70 for a single room and USD$100 for a double. I recommend the Toyoko Inn hotel chain located all over Japan.

Prices at regular Japanese restaurants are usually USD$8-$15 a meal, but food can cost you about USD$5-8 a meal if you eat at budget Japanese restaurants like Yoshinoya, Sukiya, and CoCo Ichiban Curry House.

I would say about USD$80-100 a day is possible done on a budget.

How do I conect with Japanese in my community who can teach me about Shinto?

Question:

I have not met any Japanese or Japanese-Americans in Rochester, NY. There are no listings for any Shinto community here.

Answer:

Shinto is about actions not words, so it doesn't really have the concept of "teach me about". You can learn about how to purify yourself and your surroundings and how to perform a Norito but they are just a a part of Shinto. The goal of Shinto is to live a happy and fulfilled life. It's thought that practicing the (unofficial) tenets of Shinto is the best way. They are:

A. Respect for family

B. Respect for nature.

C. Cleanliness of mind and body.

D. Celebration of the harmony between humanity and nature through the Kami.

Some interesting facts about Shinto:

1. Belief is not an important part of Shinto.

2. The Shinto texts are not central to the religion and are not considered to be true stories. They are considered to be what the people of the time they were written thought about the world.

3. Shinto focuses on obtaining happiness and fulfillment in this life. It does not consider this life to be just a preparation for whatever might come next.

4. Shinto can be highly individualized. You'll never hear a sermon at a Shinto ritual because the Shinto priests have no dogma to preach and they reckon that you are smart enough to figure things out for yourself.

5. Individual Shinto shrines emphasize different aspects. So Ise Jingu emphasizes the relationship between Shinto and Japan, Fushimi Inari Taisha emphasizes success in commerce and agriculture, and Tsubaki Jinja emphasizes the harmony between humanity, nature, and the Kami.

How is Japan doing now?

Question:

They haven't really said anything about how Japan was doing, and I was just wondering if they're doing any better?

Answer:

99%+ of Japan is back to normal. There's still a 20km no go zone around the Fukushima nuke plant, but I've heard that's being relaxed. The plant still isn't under control & won't be for sometime
There's been a big increase in depression & suicides in the area . Many thousands of people are still homeless. Temp housing is being built, but quality isn't high.
The area has been forever changed and will never be like it was before 3 / 11.

Attractive Accents in Japan?

Question:

Hello everybody,

I'm curious about something.

In North America, people generally find certain accents appealing, and others not. For example, a fair number of women like hearing English speakers who have an Italian, French, or Spanish accent.

I'm wondering how accents are viewed from Japan? (As in, someone from another country trying to speak Japanese).

Thanks for your time! Have a nice day.

Answer:

In North America (and other countries with English as an official language) people rarely say "your English is good!" even toward people who speak "broken English". But in Japan, people would show their surprise first and flatter "oh, you speak good Japanese (in Japanese)" if they hear a non-Japanese(-looking) person speaking Japanese.
*Imagine you go to Kenya and speak Swahili, people wouldn't care your accents but would be only impressed)

About foreigner's Japanese accents; Native English speakers, especially those who have NO background of second language, seem to struggle with learning/pronouncing Japanese the most (they seem to be spoiled, believing "English is international language"), having stronger accents. Spanish, Italian, Slavic people sound ok because their languages have similar vowels (a e i o u) or R to Japanese ones, and they don't depend on their first language as English-speaking people usually do.

How is my name pronounced in Japanese?

Question:

Just curious. My name in Chinese characters is 李相奉.

Answer:

For the Japanese 李相奉 will automatically not appear as any regular Japanese name, indicating it to be a foreign name, in which case a romanized (English) or katakana pronunciation of your name would be asked for.

For foreigners (even ones that use Chinese characters in their names) it is standard practice for Japanese to transliterate your name as how it is pronounced instead of how it is translated via Chinese characters.

In the end, in Japanese it will come out in Katakana or Romaji spelling of your name.

I'm 16 and moving to Japan, some questions.?

Question:

Hi everyone. I'm 16 and currently live in New Hampshire, USA. I was born in Japan to Japanese passport holding parents. My mother is full Japanese and my father is 1/2- making me 3/4 Japanese blooded and 1/4 Irish.

My parents are unhappy with the high-school education in the USA and have decided to ship me off to japan for my last 2 years. I was accepted into a public Japanese school as I speak Japanese basically fluently. I'm sad about leaving my friends but excited at the same time. But I have some questions.

1. How will I be treated in japan? I don't really look white since I'm only 1/4 and I was born in japan- but do you think people will hold it against me that I've spent the last 13 years in the USA?

2. How will the adjustment from a USA high-school to Japanese high-school be?

3. Hows life there? I'm going to be in my old hometown Fukuoka.

4. Should I stay in japan for college as well or come back to the USA? I should apply to colleges this year to get a head start .. So what country is best? My parents said Japanese college is bad and that a USA degree is values everywhere whereas a Japanese degree is only valuable in japan, is that true?

5. Just any advise - please nothing rude I'm not just some anime freak going to japan. I am Japanese.

Answer:

Since you've been enrolled at a public high-school in Fukuoka, your Japanese comprehension must be good enough. And your way of thinking might have been influenced by your mom. That's very important/ an advantage to get oriented there.
And if you're not used to be called "Yuri", why don't you introduce yourself "Rosanne --> rozannu" which sounds lovely.

1. Bottom line is you should make yourself comfortable. Just be yourself. Show what you are. Being friendly and open-minded would make your school life easier.

2. You'll find them really group-minded. (e.g. a friend of mine who're raised in Europe, she was surprised to see girls even going to washroom in a group when she was sent to a Japanese junior-high school.)

3. I hope you know Fukuoka dialect..
I think Kyushu people are friendly and thoughtful, on the other hand, I have an impression that kyushu region is more conservative than big cities like Tokyo.

4. The decision Is yours...

Just "smile" You'll be fine.

*Note: In Japan school year begins in April, not in January.
-----------
ok, "before" the school stars. that makes sense, and it's great that your aunt/uncle are supposed to take care of you!

Do we need a visa to visit Okinawa, Japan?

Question:

Answer:

You must have a valid passport and an onward/return ticket for tourist/business "visa free" stays of up to 90 days. Your passports must be valid for the entire time you are staying in Japan. U.S. citizens cannot work on a 90-day "visa free" entry. As a general rule, "visa free" entry status may not be changed to another visa status without departing and then re-entering Japan with the appropriate visa, such as a spouse, work, or study visa.

How much should I take for a one-week trip to Tokyo?

Question:

My sister and I are going to Tokyo for a week in the middle of September. The flights have been taken care of, and we'll be staying with a friend so we won't have to pay for a hotel or anything.

How much pocket money should we each take to have a comfortably fun time there? We probably won't be doing too much crazy expensive stuff - just exploring, maybe checking out some music gigs, going to some museums, seeing some temples and maybe going on a couple of day trips to interesting areas outside of the city.

What would be a reasonable amount to take, in Japanese yen? And do you have any recommendations for must-see people and events?

Answer:

It's hard to give details because there are just so many options. For instance, take a day trip....

600 yen each for train round trip
500 yen each for admission (assuming there is one)
1000 yen each for lunch

There's 4200 yen for the two of you. But do you drink beer? So you stop in a bar and have a couple each. There's another 2000 yen. Or maybe you want to try a nicer restaurant. Lunch could double in price very easily.

As far as where to go, I don't like Tokyo. Worked there during the week, came back home to Nara on weekends. There's stuff to see for sure, but that's for someone else to answer. I'd use Google or a guide book for suggestions.

So bottom line.... you could get by with 10,000 yen for the two of you per day. Myself, I would give myself a buffer and have at least 15,000 yen. With the current exchange rate that's about $1400.
