My Perry-loving and Rirakkuma-loving dear friend, I hope you had fun staying with us in California. I wish we could have more time to spend together. Thank you for the gifts, I really like them. Hopefully we'll be able to keep in touch and see each other in the future. Have fun on your trip to Las Vegas and Grand Canyon! Also have a safe trip back home to Japan! We'll miss you :)

Sincerely,
_____

Thank you to anyone who's willing to translate, I'd appreciate it so much.

The Big Bang Theory + Abiogenesis + Theory of Human Evolution = Evolution = lies of the Devil and enemies of God. It never occurred.

God created FIRST the Earth, the plants, THEN the Sun and the stars.
He created the first man (Adam) from clay and give him life, then used a rib of Adam to create the first woman (Eve).

BEFORE the creation of mankind, the ENTIRE UNIVERSE was flooded with water in order to stop the rebellion of Satan and his followers (angels). This was the “Primigenial Flood”. This waters are now beneath the Universe.

The Hell is in the center of the Earth (the core of the planet).

All those who don’t belive in Jesus and repent of their sins will be tortured FOREVER in Hell.

What do you think the Japanese people would think (or do) of people like him?

Answer:

There is still a handful of idiots who think the earth is flat also.

Only brain dead fundamentalists interpret the Bible like you wrote. Most Christians are smarter than that.

Most Japanese would ignore fools who refuse to accept science and facts. Just as they should.

Japanese gameshows help?

Question:

I am doing a presentation on japanese game shows and i need some fun facts about them.

an example would be that most japanese gameshows are done for the fun of it. there are no cash prizes.

I need as many as you can give me, but please be truthful any fact will do if it makes it easier compare there shows to ours

thank you for any help you can give me

Answer:

The key word about japanese game shows is FUN. Lots of fun. Some ridicule the perticipants to the extreme but many are just good humoured fun. Very challenging too. Example is Banzuke. This game show tests participants in particular skills such as push-ups , unicycle obstacle course , pogo jumping course etc. Participants range from world champions , Olympic Champions and your ordinary Joes but many do not succeed. Many other game shows combine wits , quiz questions and stamina. Eating competitions too. Its so entertaining and that's why there are so many spin offs shows all over the world.
Another country where the game shows are widely televised is Germany where you have competitions between different towns. Its been popular since decades ago.
Most do have prizes but the japanese seldom use this as the attraction to the game.

Can anyone please translate these lyrics?

Question:

Answer:

In a whirlpool called paranoia which I dived into out of struggling.
I opened my eyes, and there was a shine getting me out of it.

Someone said, “This freezing winter will pass. You know, no rain stops, does it?”

I was so troubled that I couldn’t picture my ideal.
My tears were frozen, and giving up seemed to be the only choice, but then・・・

Someone shouted to me, “Having an escape is never a bad thing. You can love (pamper) yourself a bit.”
Was it you, God?

“*When you are over this long-lasting struggle, the sun will shine for you only. Don’t be sad about the uphill road, the sun is waiting for you only.”
Was it you, God?

*Repeat

*Repeat

Even when the darkness is blocking you, the sun is waiting for you only.

Cheapest options to fly from Australia to Japan then to Canada, back to Australia?

Question:

I want to travel over the christmas period 2012-2013.

I firstly live in Brisbane Australia and want to spend 2 weeks in Japan, then 2 weeks in Canada (if the flights are cheap). Once in Japan I plan on seeing the snow, and general tourist attractions throughout the country. In Canada, once again, just general tourist attractions.

What are the cheapest airports to fly into, and the best booking procedure to go through?

Answer:

there is a little known fare called "Circle the Pacific" - you need to find the right travel agent and have him look it up

Basically, it originates in location X (let's say Australia) and you are allowed to travel to North Asia (e.g. Japan), the West Coast of the US (an incremental cost from the US to get you to Canada) and back to Australia

I'm guessing not. I've seen Mongolian food; its filled with dairy products like cheese, milk and meats like horse, mutton, and goat. Do Mongolians eat noodles or rice? As far as I heard, Mongolians don't use chopsticks, they have a really unique culture that is not identical to Chinese, Korean or Japanese.

Answer:

there are some Mongolian dishes which combine the meat with rice or fresh noodles into various stews (tsuivan, budaatai huurga) or noodle soups (guriltai shol).

Classes in Japanese High School?

Question:

I am going to attend grade 12 in a Japanese high school next year, and I was just wondering what courses they usually take, and how they work. Like how many classes a day, how many/long are the breaks/lunch, and stuff like that! Thanks a lot!

Answer:

You should also note that classes change every day so unlike my school in America where I had Math 1st period, English 2nd, etc etc (or whatever it was) every day in Japan is different and there are students responsible for going and writing down the next day's schedule (after lunch) and posting it in the classroom. So one day you might have English 1st, Math 2nd, Kokugo (Japanese studies) 3rd, etc, the next day you might have Math 1st, then PE, etc. and while you'll have math 4 times a week, it'll be on different days and at different times from week to week.

What do you consider to be the biggest stumbling block to improving your Japanese?

Question:

Hello. This is something that I would like to ask any English speakers who has been learning Japanese, or used to learn for that matter.

Given that the sentence structures of Japanese and English are on opposite ends of the linguistic spectrum, the complexity of the Japanese language must have made you feel dizzy from time to time.

Personally, if Japanese weren’t my native tongue, it might be the last language I would seriously consider taking up learning. (I would definitely give up halfway through)

Anyway, getting back on topic, what do you consider to be the biggest stumbling block to improving your Japanese?

"Pronunciation?"

"Assortment of hiragana, katakana & kanji characters?"

"Various particles?"

"Completely different sentence structure than that of English?"

"Each word having different types of meanings?"

Answer:

By far the hardest thing to learning Japanese is the 3 different alphabets. Pronunciation would be second but after living there, being totally immersed and learning from native Japanese speakers, this become less of an issue over time but the inability to read the newspaper still exists.

Can someone explain Japanese particles to me?

Question:

Mostly が and は I have NO clue when and where to use them -.-

Answer:

I have no clue how to explain either. It's a really tough question to answer. No wonder you haven't got any answers yet. Truthfully I've been trying to answer your question for two hours now, but still haven't come up with any good explanation. The only one I could was that sometimes you can leave out particles altogether.

I'm an American. 私はアメリカ人です or 私 アメリカ人です。

Either sounds fine. The second one might sound even better as spoken Japanese.

How do you eat Japanese natto?

Question:

I'm going to a Japanese restaurant tonight, and I'd like to try natto (the sticky fermented soybeans). How am I supposed to eat them?

Answer:

Natto is a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans. It is usually eaten as part of a traditional breakfast in Japan but is also enjoyed for dinner. Natto is an acquired taste due to its powerful smell and strong taste. It was not something I enjoyed when I first moved over to Japan, but something I grew to appreciate over time. I love my natto mixed with green onion, soy sauce and mustard (karashi) and then poured over a bowl of rice. It is also really good in Japanese curry.

Difference between city and prefecture?

Question:

Hello, I was asked on a reference form between 'Kyoto City' and Kyoto Prefecture". What is the difference between these two? Thanks!

P.S. There are many other listings such as Chiba Prefecture & Chiba City, etc...

Answer:

A city is in a prefecture. A prefecture is like a US State, it has many cities in it.

Example in America:

New York City is a City in New York State. There are many cities in New York State, New York City is just one of them.

For Japan:

Kyoto City is a city within Kyoto Prefecture, there are many other cities in Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City is just one of them.

There are 47 prefectures in Japan, each of them have towns, cities, etc within them. Interesting note, Tokyo is not a city, but considered one of Japan's prefectures, there are cities within Tokyo, none of them named "Tokyo City" (which ceased to exist in 1942 when it merged with Tokyo Prefecture to form Tokyo Metropolis). Internationally though Tokyo is still often called a city (when in Japanese law it is not a city) for historical purposes, and it's just easier to explain it that way.
However if you ever need to mail a package to Tokyo, you would put TOKYO in the section that says "state/province" and the name of the city within Tokyo in the "city" section of the customs/postal forms.

===
>>Japan is roughly the size of California, so I wouldn't say a prefecture is like a state. It's more like a county in the US.<<

Based on that assumption, the State of Rhode Island isn't a State because it's 106times SMALLER then the state of California.

It has nothing to do with the size but the governmental/administrative divisions of the country.

A Prefecture of Japan is analogous to a US state in the powers it executes and it's administrative make up. A prefecture is headed by a governor like a US State. US Within each prefecture are cities/towns/villages etc etc, just like how a US state is made up of counties, cities, towns, etc etc.

How would I send a package to Japan?

Question:

I want to send a painting to Japan (The painting is 18X24") and a couple of other trinkets ( a teddy bear a, letter and a book) and I live in New York. I've never sent anything internationally, so how would I go about this process?

Oh yea and I have another question..do I have to go to the post office with everything already in a box, or can I get the box/bag at the post office?

Answer:

The picture will be a problem to send just because of it's size & what it is. They have flat rate boxes that start at about $16. Regular air mail is 98 cents an ounce. So that's out.
I'd suggest a visit to the PO. Tell them what you have and they'll give you the best rates available.

Why don't Germany and Japan have nuclear weapons?

Question:

I need to write a 2500 word essay on this and I've already written why from the point of view that America doesn't want them too and from the point of view that the German and Japanese people dont want them too as they have a very anti military culture but I need a third angle

Any thoughts?

Answer:

In realistic sense, both nations are protected by the nuclear umbrella by NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and USFJ (US Forces in Japan) respectively. As long as they stay in the framework for the defense of the nation, they do not need to have nuclear weapons by themselves, do they?

Instead, both Germany and Japan have strong military (of approx 250,000 troops) armed with "defensive" if not "offensive" weapons. Just for your info, Japan Self Defense Force (JSDF) is equipped with a variety of the most advanced arms today, including 300+ fighter aircraft, 100+ anti-air missiles and 4 aegis ships to name a few. JSDF has everything except for "offensive" weapons such as nuclear bombs, cruise missiles and aircraft carriers.
In times of contingency in the Far East, USFJ will be dispatched to attack all the belligerences in this region, while JSDF defends our nation from any foreign aggression to our country.

Both Japan and Germany are under the nuclear umbrella of the United States and NATO, but both nations have strong military for self defense against foreign agressions with conventional weapons. Having nuclear weapons is not the only way for self defense. They are wise enough to take advantage of the military alliance with the US.

Should I give up my Japanese citizenship and become a Polish citizen, so I can live in the UK?

Question:

Okay, here's the thing. I have been living in Poland for over 10 years now (my parents moved here--my father works in the Japanese embassy), and I have the opportunity to gain the Polish citizenship now. However, my objective is not to stay in Poland, but rather to move to the UK. Right now, holding only the Japanese citizenship, that is quite difficult, with all the permissions, etc. etc. But if I gained the Polish citizenship, I become a EU citizen and I am free to settle down in ANY EU country I want, including the UK.

The only drawback is that I would lose my Japanese citizenship, since Japan STILL does not recognize dual citizenship (!!!).

But I REALLY want to live and work and settle down in the UK... and if that happens, I will probably never go back to Japan, either (although all my family members are Japanese citizens).

What do you think? Should I become a Polish citizen just so I can live and work in the UK??? :) Thanks for any helpful advice!

Answer:

I'd take the Polish citizenship. That doesn't mean you're screwed in Japan. It just means you can't vote. You can always decide to live in Japan later. You don't need citizenship to live the rest of your life in Japan if you wanted to. You just need a visa. I don't know your case exactly, but if you really think you'll be living in Europe, then might as well make it easier, get your Polish passport, which will also allow you to have an EU one and live and work just about anywhere in the EU.

Can't you stay in the UK as a Japanese citizen for awhile, then once things get more settled, apply for an EU visa via your Polish connections? There might be a way for you to stay in the UK as a Japanese, with a visa.

How do Japanese stay so thin?

Question:

Answer:

I would argue that it's mostly genetics, especially since there ARE fat people in Japan (beyond sumo wrestlers) and that for many people all of the diet and exercise in the world won't make a difference. A lifestyle that includes a lot of walking or biking places and lots of home-cooked food based on fish and vegetables with limited amounts of fat and sugar certainly helps, but it certainly isn't the only factor.
