Do I need a Visa to go to Japan?

Question:

I'm an Indonesian citizen and I live in Indonesia. Next summer I want to visit my family and friends in Houston but I want to stop in Tokyo for a few days and visit some of my friends there before going to Houston. Is there some type of Visa that I have to get? I already got my travel Visa to America; Is it going to be hard to acquire the Visas for Japan? How long do the process usually takes?

Indonesia is not on visa waiver list of Japan.

So you have to have tourist visa to visit Japan.
