If you could live in any part of Japan where would it be?

Question:

Would you live where it is quiet? Busy? Trendy? Near good restaurants and clubs? In the countryside?

I like where I live in a small city in Nara. Close to the mountains, not too crowded as far as traffic goes, and convenient train lines to Osaka and surrounding areas.

Essay help:why do I want to go to japan?

Question:

I believe I should be selected as an exchange student for the -cityname- sister cities programs because I have a vast interest in Japanese culture and customs. Japan has the most beautiful geographical lands and I would be very honored to one day see such a place. Japan has a big variety of subcultures, most of them catering to youth making it an ideal place to go and have fun at. Within a quick bullet train ride you could go to from shopping for all the latest fashions in Harajuku, to Sanjuusangendou temple in Kyoto, and still have time to visit an onsen (public bath). By visiting Japan I hope to gain a better understanding of the world outside of America.
I have read and studied a lot about Japanese culture in books and the internet. I want to get the first hand experience by visiting the country itself. In America you would be able to taste an original Japanese food without it being Americanized in some way. For instance sushi, Most sushi in America contains avocado instead of the original wasabi .In Japan most of the food is prepared and the same way it’s been done in years. Books I read about Japan are sometimes outdated and visiting Japan would be the only way I can confirm my knowledge of the country.
My favorite thing about Japan is the mentality of the Japanese people. Japan is a vary isolated country. The people keep to themselves and they are very polite. When the Japanese do something they devote themselves fully in it to achieve perfection .They are good at satisfying their customers, while specializing in convenience. It is typical in Japan to see a vending machine that sells clothes, or a person greeting you at a store entrance. Hygiene is taken more harshly than in America and the Japanese are considerate of their health. When a Japanese person gets sick a Face mask is put on to prevent others from getting sick, in homes the family and guest take of their shoes at the jikan (entrance) to prevent dirtying the floors with germs outside coming from the bottom of the shoe. Instead of shaking hands with people they bow which helps the germs to stop spreading from hand to hand.
When I visit Japan I want to improve my Japanese by speaking to the natives. I’ll gain unforgettable experiences and upon returning home I’ll tell my family & friends more about the country .while In return I will teach my Japanese host family about the American lifestyle, culture, & language .I will behave in a positive way so their views of people like me, Americans and African Americans won’t be displayed in a negative thought. They won’t rely on media and stereotypes. In the future I hope to know fluent Japanese so I can become a certified translator. With a language certification I will have a better chance of getting job opportunities and I will be able communicate with people on a wider social scale.

I need someone to check if it's ok.I'm not so good in the writting&editing department D:

Answer:

you don't have to worry about that essay. It's pretty impressive you just have to improve your spellings. and focus at the location of the school. search about the location. For example, In Tokyo, I would like to be an exchange student because i want to learn Japanese Language, and i want to visit/ explore Tokyo well. etc. you don't have to say different kind of things in different part of Japan because you want there to study not to stroll around. so yeah. ~Reika. visit me when you passed. k? i'm a female teenager too. ^_^

How hard is to be a dancer in Japan?

Question:

I'm 16 year old boy, not Japanese but still Asian. I'm very good at dancing[only MJ style though]. There's so much agencies for singers but I couldn't find any for dancers. I don't live in Japan, but I was thinking of living all my life in future, 'cause I'm in love with a Japanese girl. (However I haven't met or talked with the girl only saw her, and knows that she lives in Tokyo, she used to be a Singer now she's a normal girl and 6 months youger than me, that's all I know about her but I can't let my True Love get away.)

Other than dancing I also write songs and stories but I think that all those are in vain 'cause all are in English. (I'm learning Japanese maybe I could write in Japanese someday). And also make music using softwares.
Please someone help me, All I want is to get her.

Answer:

Jake, as you know, Akari Hayami, ex member of "Momoiro Clover" left the band because she wanted a normal life. She is now doing what normal 16 year old girls do.

Thousands of 16 year old boys who also think they are in love with her, probably have similar ideas as yourself. Time for a reality check Jake. Time to wake up. You are not going to meet her I'm afraid.

Visit or not???????????????

Question:

I live with my dad and stepmom who is very nice and in every past year I have gone down to California for almost the whole summer to visit her and my stepdad and younger siblings. I have done that for at least 5 years in a row, even sometimes visiting them during winter break. I have been doing that for all of my teenage years. I am 17 going on 18. So I have never experienced a summer break with any of my friends, instead im with my mom and sometimes abusive husband. This is also my last summer before I begin college, so it's the last summer I have with my high school friends. My stepdad always argues with me and screams at me and my mom likes to argue with me too sometimes. Every time I go there I feel sad and angry and I cry a lot, and it's a big relief when I come back home with my dad. This year I told my mom that I wish to not visit them this summer. I told her in a nice way. She then freaked out and said "that is definitely not a healthy thing to do, to choose to not see your mom this summer. You NEED to come down here." the thing is (and i told her this), im simply not happy there. so I'm asking all of you on yahoo answers, who is right? Me or her? Please help. Thanks to all :)

Answer:

Your question doesn't really belong here, but at the same time, the answer is easy.

You need to visit your mom like a fish needs a bicycle.

I want to move to japan?

Question:

I'm 17 year old male and a Canadian citizen and id like to move to japan by 20
id just like to know what i will have to do to end up moving to japan (also i don't speak any Japanese)

Answer:

You usually need working or student visa to live in Japan.

For working visa, you have to get a job offer from a Japanese company. But you can't look for a job in Japan without a visa. So you need it before you enter Japan.

For student visa, you have to be admitted to a Japanese college. You need to pay tuition and living cost for 4 years. It could be about $80,000.

If you want to become a Japanese citizen, you have to keep living in Japan for more than 5 years without a pause. Then, you will be eligible to apply for citizenship. But you need more like stable income, sufficient reason, Japanese language skill and so on if you want your application to be accepted.

You can apply for Permanent Residence of Japan under the same condition. And this is relatively easier than citizenship.

If you are a Canadian citizen, you can apply for working holiday visa which will give you right to live and work in Japan for 1 year.

Sending messages from Softbank problem?

Question:

Hi, I bought a Softbank Prepaid phone and nowadays, I'm having problems sending S-mail or SMS to cellphones other than softbank. This is ironic because the first I sent a message was to a Docomo phone (my friend's) and it was okay and was sent without a fuss. However, the next day I'm observing that I am having difficulties as it always says "message sending failed" for like an hour of so of trying. Whenever that happens, I'll send a message to another Softbank phone and it would send without a fuss. I don't know what to do and why this is happening. Any settings I have to change? Please help! Thank you!

Answer:

Sending SMS is only possible to users of the same provider. You cannot send SMS to other people using Docomo or AU phones, you can only send keitai-mail to them. Sending Keitai-mail also cost money so you might want to check the balance of your softbank prepaid card.

What's the Cheapest flight to JAPAN from anywhere in the USA?

Question:

Hey guys!

Can you please fine the cheapest flight from any place in the USA with ANY day through June. Flight must be a return flight to ANY place (and ANY time). It sounds crazy, the right answer gets 10points <3

Thank you very much!!!!!

Answer:

From : Los Angeles, CA, US To: Tokyo-narita, JP
Dates: Jun 9 - Jun 23
United Airlines
Economy round trip: $874

Cheap enough?

Try different dates at http://www.travelpapa.com/. Airline consolidators like TravelPapa have contracts with major carriers to manage blocks of airline seats at reduced prices which they then sell. Fares through consolidators usually lower than published rates available from the airlines themselves.

You may also want to check their FB page for coupon codes or any other promotions: http://www.facebook.com/travelpapa

Good luck!

What are your stereotypes of Japanese people?

Question:

What are your stereotypes of Japanese people?
Here are mine. I in no way mean to offend anyone. Just posting some stereotypes I have noticed over time:

Japanese: Polite, very intelligent, quiet, hard-working, keep feelings to themselves, xenophobic, love to be fashionable, love gadgets and the latest and greatest technology, thin and athletic bodies, least emotional Asians of the 3 (Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese), love to dye their hair, and adore Western culture.

Answer:

I only have a stereotype of people who stereotype other people, with the exception of those who stereotype those with stereotypes.

Silly.

Why do Japanese girls usually have really large calves?

Question:

Compared with other Asians.

Answer:

I was curious about that to. I believe it's hereditary. It's about 70% females who have larger calves. Some men even have them in Japan. I think a lot of it is mainly because their 1# transportation is, well their legs. They use their bikes, or trains to get around. And its between 1 to two hour transport each way. A lot of Japanese girls are skinny, even skinny girls get big calves! THAT DOES NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Even the tiny girls commonly have this feature in all of Asia.

So I believe that is the reason. In fact there is a large verity of "Calve" reduction surgeries in all of Asia. This is a very popular surgery almost as popular as the nose lengthening they do.

So I'd say it was because of their genetics. :)

What does this mean in Japanese [image]?

The image alone does not have enough information.

Can somebody translate this English to Japanese please?

Question:

I would prefer a native speaker do this, but if you're fluent in Japanese, why not? Please write it, if you can, in Kana & Kanji, but if not it's okay. Here it is:

Hi. I'm sorry about my poor grammar and vocabulary. What I meant to say in that entry was, "I'm Seline. I'm an American person. I am studying Japanese, but I only know a little. I like to practice my violin and saxophone. It would be really nice if you helped me with my Japanese by correcting this!" I am learning Kanji, so I only used a few well known characters. And I'm using a translator on the internet to write this, so I'm sorry that I'm not that good yet. I will be happy to help you with English if you'd help me with Japanese.

Answer:

Can I get a job in Tokyo, Japan?

Question:

I may go to Tokyo this summer and I was wondering if I could get a job there. I am still an undergraduate student in college and I haven't graduated yet. I cannot speak Japanese but I do have citizenship in Japan. Is it somehow possible to obtain a job or is it very unlikely?

Answer:

You have Japanese citizenship, but can't speak Japanese ? Now how did you manage to do that one ? A non-Japanese with Japanese citizenship would have had to lived there for over five years. And then taken the tests for said citizenship.
I'd say your chances of working in Tokyo are about as good you being voted king of Siam.

Who was Aterui in history?

Question:

Answer:

He was the most prominent chief of the Isawa band of Emishi in northern Japan. Aterui was born in Isawa, Hitakami-no-kuni, what is now Mizusawa Ward of Ōshū City in southern Iwate Prefecture. Nothing is known of his life until the battle of Sufuse Village in 787.

Hope this helps.

Who are the Emishi people of Japan?

Question:

Answer:

The Emishi were represented by different tribes, some of whom became allies of the Japanese (fushu, ifu) while others remained hostile (iteki). The Emishi in northeastern Honshū relied on their horses in warfare. They developed a unique style of warfare where horse archery and hit and run tactics proved very effective against the slower contemporary Japanese imperial army that relied on mostly heavy infantry. Their livelihood was based on hunting and gathering as well as the cultivation of grains such as millet and barley. The first major attempts to subjugate the Emishi in the 8th century were largely unsuccessful. The imperial armies modelled after the mainland Chinese were no match for the guerrilla tactics of the Emishi.

Question:

Hi, I am doing a report on how the the internet has affected the way the Japanese do business in Japan. Has it improved their business structure? If anyone has any links on the web that talks or gives examples of this, I would appreciate it, since I am having trouble finding anything about this subject online.

Check how Internet changed the way of business in your country and it's the same in Japan.

Shu yo, mimoto ni, chikazukan,
Noboru michi wa, jujika ni,
Aritomo nado, kanashimu-beki?
Shu yo, mimoto ni, chikazukan.

Edit:
The song you posted only sang the first verse. I'm not Christian so I do not know whether the song is the definite translation of the English, since original Christian songs are translated from Portuguese to Japanese and not from English by the Jesuits.

Perhaps the link could help.

Do you think a Black girl could have a chance at working at a maid cafe in Japan?

Question:

I'm in love with Japanese culture and and in the process of learning to write an speak the language. Also I frequently have some form of a weave or hairpiece in so I don't think that would be a problem, but when ever i search nothing even CLOSE to the question even pops up. Is it that unlikely? And why?

You need a BA / BS degree to qualify for a work visa, as well as a job offer before you get there.
Chance ? About zero. The only jobs you can get are those that a Japanese can't or won't do. Sorry, but that's how it is in Japan.

I wanna find my real father in japan, my mom left japan pregnant and she did't tell her boyfriend (my dad) that she's pregnant , the thing is, this happened 19years ago. and now SHE only remembers only the last name of my dad.. (i know it's too late) but is there anyway i can find him? please help me

Without a full name, and a lot of money, this isn't possible to do.

Sorry, with no record of your birth in Japan, I don't think this is possible.

Why do the Japanese have more stress?
They're receiving a lot of pressure constantly from the society you're involved in (family, school, work)
- raised to control/suppress your feelings
- the society focuses on "precision" "punctuality"
- the society requires 'group-minded' thinking
- there're a lot of competitions, (e.g. entering university)
- you live in lots of ties of (unnecessary) obligation

*2 male high-school mates had passed away at their younger age... (one was uncertain/unnatural, the other one committed suicide because of stress at work)

Can Japan island share the fate of Atlantis?

Question:

There was a legend, that some old city named Atlantis sinked somewhere in the ocean. It was never found and some thought it was a great and - extraterrestial - civilisation which dissapeared in cataclysmic shock. Currently we saw in march, that nature can return favor for japanese people, mainly because they made their gods angry by killing whales and dolphins. What do you think, can japanese island be sinked in tumors and flood anf thus share the legendary fate of Atlantis.

Answer:

Japanese archipelago separated and became isolated from China around 11,000BC. Archaeological evidence indicates that Stone Age people lived in the Japanese archipelago during the Paleolithic period between 39,000 and 21,000 years ago. Japan was then connected to mainland Asia by at least one land bridge, and nomadic hunter-gatherers crossed to Japan from East Asia, Siberia, and possibly Kamchatka. Flint tools and bony implements of this era have been excavatedin Japan.

Geologists have indicated the Japanese archipelago has moved eastward toward the fault line known as "Pacific Ring of Fire", as such earthquake will be a major threat to Japan in the future, but in terms of sinking it is unlikely.
