Question:

I only know intermediate/basic japanese not enough to translate the words of these lyrics into japanese. Anyone who knows japanese fluently please translate this for me! Please NO google translator!!! google translator does not translate full japanese sentences in the correct order that words are supposed to go.

The lyrics are;

There's a song that's inside of my soul.
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again
I'm awake in the infinite cold.
But you sing to me over and over and over again.

So, I lay my head back down.
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours, I pray, to be only yours
I know now you're my only hope.

Sing to me the song of the stars.
Of your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again.
When it feels like my dreams are so far
Sing to me of the plans that you have for me over again.

So I lay my head back down.
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours, I pray, to be only yours
I know now, you're my only hope.

I give you my destiny.
I'm giving you all of me.
I want your symphony, singing in all that I am
At the top of my lungs, I'm giving it back.

So I lay my head back down.
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours, I pray, to be only yours
I pray, to be only yours
I know now you're my only hope.

Radiation concerns in Japan?

Question:

I have a friend who lives in Nerima-ku, Japan, and he goes to school in Tokyo. He was fine the last time I talked to him last week, but I heard that the radiation crisis went up to level 7 and they were evacuating more people outside of the original danger zone. Would they evacuating around where my friend lives?

Answer:

Moving from 5 to 7 category does not mean a further output of radiation. Previously ( for one reason or another ) they counted the reactors individually. Now, they count it as a combined category. That is not to say that further radiation leakage is not a possibility. This is why the evacuation area zone has been increased.

Anyone feels stupid still going to Japan at a time like this?

Question:

I am bound to go to Japan in 3 days and part of me feels stupid about wanting to still go despite the recent earthquake and the raising of level to 7 at the Fukushima. I know they say that nothing really changed and they only raised because though the radiation levels are decreasing, it still remains high. I will be staying North East (quite far from Tokyo and Fukushima) but still...

Does anyone else feels stupid about going to Japan amidst these events?

Answer:

Northwest is fine. Are you visiting Chubu or Kansai region? There are lots of very beautiful places there.
250 miles from Fukushima is like Kansai. Osaka, Kyoto and Nara are beautiful cities.

I sure do miss beefbowls!!!?

Question:

I used to live in Cali and New York, and they had Yoshinoya and their beefbowls were amazing... I live in Georgia now so absolutely none of that here, but I'd like to cook them myself if I can? What are some good recipes? any special sauces or other ingredients you put in (other than pickled ginger or vegetables)? Are there beefbowl sauces that are available for purchase or do people usually make it themselves?

Also, any other ingredients than beef? maybe chicken, or eels?

Answer:

Here is recipe.

Was today's fire on Fukushima, Japan related to earthuake 6.. 30 km from Tokyo?

Question:

Is subway working now? in Tokyo?

Answer:

You need a map! How about an earthquake map? The one from the US Geological Survey is really great, and you can click on different parts to see where and when the earthquakes are. (Fukushima, btw, is about 180 km away from Tokyo, IIRC).

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/

For info about the damage, try the Yomiuri Shimbun in English. If the subways shut down, they'd report it (but they aren't the fastest medium on the block . . . .) http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/

Why are old people in Japan worrying about radiation?

Question:

By the time they get radiation sickness or cancer, they all probably die of old age

Answer:

Everybody in Japan is mad at the power plant disaster, but nobody, old or young, is worrying about radiation. We survived two nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. When our parents were young, the amount of radiation in the air throughout Japan was 1,000 times higher than it is today. Nevertheless, the Japanese still have the longest life expectancy in the world. We are still eating vegitables from Fukushima prefecture; still drinking milk from Miyagi prefecture. No problem!

What are things to do in tokyo?

Question:

im about to go to Tokyo for 8-9 days..any suggestion for place for sight seeing? or any do and dont? im not into nightlife though...thank you very much

Answer:

Some previous answers are already good. I would add a trip to Nikko and another to Kamakura. Nikko is only two hours by train and is absolutely a must to see. Wonderful place in UNESCO catalogue, be sure not to miss it. Another wonderful one day excursion is Kamakura. It's only one hour by train from Tokyo and also incredibly beautiful place. You should stop in Kita Kamakura and go on to Kamakura on foot, just walking from temple to temple. I strongly recommend not to miss this two places.

Is it true that clothes from Japan are?

Question:

made from cheap fabric and are easy to rip? I want honest answers and im curious if the fabric of the clothes from Japan are the same from the ones in Canada or the US or not? If anyone can give me descriptions, thatd be great. This is for a project.

Answer:

No. Japanese clothes are usually made of very high quality materials. The clothes that generally available in the States, especially those from GAP, Abercrombie, and other mass market brands are made in South Asian countries like India, Bangladesh and Pakistan to cut costs. That's why clothes in US and Canada are of much poorer quality.

Is Tokyo safe from a major radiation leak?

Question:

My family and I live in Tokyo, Japan and go to school/work there (and have lived there for 11 years). We evacuated 4 days after the earthquake/tsunami because of radiation concerns. We have been in the USA ever since then, just waiting to go home. We are torn whether to go back or to stay here for the rest of the school/work year. My son is graduating high school this year and my daughter is in early high school, but if we were to stay here they would home school. We are all very distraught and want to go home to Tokyo, but we are worried about the children's health. My children are especially wanting to go home VERY badly. I am back in Tokyo working, but my spouse and children are still in the USA. We would just like to know other people's opinions and what they would do. Thank you so much.

Answer:

There is more radiation in most places in the USA than there is (or will be even in a worst case scenario) in Tokyo.

You can see actual radiation levels in Tokyo on the link below. It's about half the average of most places in the USA and the same as it was before the quake. Even when the nuclear plant was at its worst, on those first few days, Tokyo didn't see much of a change in background radiation. Even places much closer to Fukushima have lower levels of radiation than the USA.

Question:

I already know her two songs that she sings for Kingdom Hearts and those are the only ones I like from her. Her other ones are good, but I just like those.

Can you help me find more Japanese singers that have the same style music? They can be kind of techno or something fast because I like to sing to those too. You can also get a song from any anime show. Thanks.

Answer:

I'm not sure if this is what you mean? But I find the following to be somewhat similar to Utada Hikaru's Kingdom Hearts song:

Tokyo or London. American goin on holiday. Where should I go?

Question:

Going this summer. Been to London before. But there are other cities nearby to visit. Should I pick London or Tokyo? I'm worried bout Tokyo. I don't speak Japanese. :-(

Answer:

Tokyo but I strongly suggest either Osaka or Fukuoka. These wonderful cities had also nearby cities that are very very much worth visiting.

In Osaka, you can detour to Kyoto and Nara. These 2 cities are very rich in traditional shrines, temples and castle. If you want to go far, you can visit Kushimoto in Wakayama prefecture. From Osaka or Kyoto there's are trains that you can ride to reach Kushimoto.

In Fukuoka, you can detour Kumamoto and Kagoshima. Kumamoto has one of the most beautiful castles in Japan. Then from Kagoshima, you can visit the Yakushima and Tanegashima islands. These islands are very beautiful and well known to locals.

If you study carefully, you can do much more things here in Japan than in London. Even if you just decide to stay in Tokyo, you'll have much more new experiences than in London.

Do Blacks And Japanese Get Along?

Question:

I want to travel there some day, do they get along?

Answer:

Yes, most do get along. I have African-American friends studying Japanese here in Fukuoka.
I really like hanging out with them because they're fun and very spontaneous. My impression is that black people are more fun and outgoing than most white people. But that's just my opinion.

How similar is Hong Kong/Shanghai to Tokyo?

Question:

In terms of:- Life in the city
-Quality of life
-Cleanliness
-Nightlife

Just wondering how similar Hong Kong and Shanghai are when compared to Tokyo

Answer:

Shanghai = Ultra rude, extreme gap between rich/poor, not so dirty, club operators will squeeze every penny out of foreigners
Hong Kong = Very rude, moderate gap between rich/poor, quite clean, club operators are pushy towards foreigners
Tokyo = Ultra polite, mostly middle class, very clean, club operators won't trouble any gaijins

Go with Tokyo, they're the best I've ever been so far. As for Shanghai and Hong Kong, the people over there tend to have "mouth volumes" and "attitudes" louder than the nightclub's speakers.

What do you think about my Japanese poem dedicated to Japanese men?

Question:

Answer:

Well............. Honestly some words are not really a good combination to hear.

How about making some changes like this:

Can I touch your body, just please don't resist.
I want you to put your body on mine.
I want to lick your ears while caressing your hair.
I want to play games licking your crotch with my tongue while biting your ear and pulling your hair.
Loosen up your fingers while I'll kiss your lips gently in whole.
I want you to thrust me deeply.
Until I sweat and lost in stargazing ..............

If you want to dedicate poems to someone you should be sure first that your words are inviting and good to hear.................

Not offensive and insulting to your subject......at least be mature enough........O.K?

Learning in Japan? Looking for someone help.?

Question:

One day I hope to eventually live in japan. In order to do that I want to gain knowledge in their language, culture, history, and much more. Im about to finish highschool and now seems to be the perfect time to start making my move. Through college I hope to get those consecutive years needed to live there for a long period. So how can I find myself in college in Japan? Hopefully as someone aiming for an MD in medicine. My GPA as of graduating HS in June is 2.0. I don't have much money and my Japanese is not so good. Can someone recommend soom free schools both in learning the Japanese language and general studies? Or perhaps a schoolarship I can apply to? Ive heard of programs such as MEXT and I have heard of people who help students find language schools for free. Could someone please point me in a good direction. I have no one physically near me to ask such questions. So I hope someone can help me even through the internet. I would appreciate help from any kind people as your answers can In fact make a big impact in my life.

Answer:

There are no free schools.
With a 2.0 GPA you will not be selected for any scholarships, and you probably won't be admitted to any schools either. A 2.0 isn't even good enough for university in the United States, a country you are from and of which you natively speak the language. So it won't get you anywhere in Japan.

First you need to better your grades. A 2.0 shows that you don't currently have the study skills necessary to do well in a regular university setting (and the "bored genius" excuse is not an excuse). You should attend a community college in your area for a couple of years, get a good GPA, and then look into your university chances at home and abroad.

You will not likely gain the Japanese ability to be accepted at a medical school because Japanese medical schools are set up differently than in the US. The medical school is part of the regular university and you apply directly to it when applying for admission into that university. You study for six years at that same school in order to graduate with an MD, and in order to be accepted you have to pass *THE* most competitive and difficult university entrance exam[s] in Japan. With a 2.0 and basically know Japanese ability, you would not come close to passing.

In my personal opinion, the best thing for you to do is attend community college for a couple of years, transfer to a state university, perhaps do a year or semester-long study abroad in Japan, graduate from that state university and then apply to an American medical school and gain your MD in the US. There is no reason or advantage to getting it in Japan other than you probably feel it would be great to live in Japan. But Japan is not that different than America and I *guarantee* you that if you went to Japan you would find you don't meld completely with the Japanese because your culture, your way of thinking, even your gestures are completely and utterly American.

Can you please help me about my problems..about my situation here in japan i want to use my real name...?

Question:

please help me i want to use my real name how can we do that...please help me...

Answer:

You're gonna' have to make another stab at your question because I don't understand what you are trying to ask.

Is this money sign of japan yen china yuan or what(¥)?

Question:

ATTENDTION!!!!!!!!! GOOD ANSWERS WOULD BE REWARDED BEST ANSWER

Answer:

¥ is officially used by both currencies, so it has to be specified as to which is which. ¥ is more internationally recognized to represent the Japanese Yen, hence most reputable news sources such as Bloomberg would denote Chinese Yuan as CNY or RMB¥ instead of just a ¥ sign.

There is also a single stroke variant of the ¥, which is used to represent RMB to avoid confusion.

What type of degree do you need to teach English in Japan?

Question:

I've read that you need a Bachelor's Degree. Can it be a bachelor's in anything or does it have to involve teaching English? Also, is knowing how to speak Japanese a requirement for teaching English in Japanese schools? (I can only assume this is the case because how are you supposed to teach English to people who can't speak English if you don't know how to describe and teach them in their own language?) Would it be a good idea to major in English and minor in Japanese?

Answer:

You need a BA / BS degree from an accredited college. Of course the more it's related to teaching or English, the better chances you have of being hired. And no, knowing Japanese isn't necessary. Many schools don't even want Japanese to be spoken in the classroom.

How to be more modern style of Oshare Kei?

Question:

I want to know how to be a more modernised version of Oshare kei. I am female Australian girl,
I have long, black hair with front fringe, and im an olive color. I really want to look like bou or Miku from Antic cafe, but more modernised, and toned down. Someone help me?
Like, hair, make up, clothing, accesories, etc.

I also want to incorporate a little bit of ulzzang in my look - without circle lenses, etc.

Your help is appreciated.

Answer:

Razor cut your hair, make it have many layers as possible. Apply high lights depending on the color you want. Brown hair with bright blonde high lights looks good. You can just either pony tail it or leave it as it is.

Have a flawless clear skin. Play with eyeliners and eye shadows. Exaggerate with your eye make up.

Keep your make up and lips simple except for your eyes.

Play with fashion. Mix and match different styles. goth, punk, 80s, classic, hipster, etc.

Wear subtle but cute accessories. Do not wear obvious tacky ones.

Is this correct Japanese Kanji?

Question:

I want a Japanese Kanji tattoo honoring my dad. I was thinking of the phrase, "You will always be in my heart". He's still alive, but I'd like to honor him. I was wondering if this is accurate:

What's the actual interpretation of that? Is it something that really has to do with death? I obviously don't want Kanji that represents death, seeing as he is alive. Thanks.

you should only tattoo yourself with that only after your dad has passed on.

Should I expect any weird reactions being an Aboriginal girl going to Japan?

Question:

Or is it just like any other foreigner?
I plan on visiting Japan in two years or so. I've heard of any other race going to Japan - but not my culture. I'm ojibwe, cree & german. I have these evil black eyes & long curly black hair hahah... I'm also quite tall. Aboriginals are usually very dark, but I'm...pretty white. Like... mocha haha. Despite my scary looks I'm a very friendly person. I'm just afraid I will scare a lot of people off. LOL

I just want to know what to expect. I have never been overseas so I don't know about discrimination. No, I'm not labelling all Japanese people I know that there is always very nice and considerate people, especially the Japanese, being respectable/respectful as they are. But that doesn't mean discrimination doesn't exist in places. Pft. I wish lol

Any advice??? :)

Answer:

Haha, I thought the same thing the first time that I visited Japan. I'm German, Eastern Shawnee, and Seminole. I had always heard that Japanese were very racist, but I didn't experience that. I was treated with respect and kindness. They really don't see the difference between a Native American, European, or Hispanic; they just know that you're not Japanese. ;P As long as you treat them with respect, they will treat you with respect. Sure, some Japanese may be racist, but where isn't racism present? If you're visiting a tourist friendly place (Tokyo or Okinawa), you shouldn't have any problems. Trust me, they won't find you scary. Granted, some of the shorter guys may be fascinated. You should have a great time, don't worry! It's not a racist or crazy place. There's nothing to worry about. Good luck and have fun! ;D
