In Japan is promiscuity looked down on?

Question:

Also, is it culturally forbidden to have premarital sex?

Answer:

I hope you will be more specific what you mean by promiscuity. It's a broad word.

>is it culturally forbidden to have premarital sex?

Haha, do you know that marriage rate is rapidly declining in Japan? A surprisingly large number of people don't get married even after 30, 40 or more.

So if it's looked down upon, very few are allowed to have sex in Japan. The bottom line is, no it's not.

Addition:
>I'm looking for a wife who is a virgin.

Oh, you want to find a virgin wife in Japan? It's like finding a four-leaf clover from millions of clovers.

Where to go in Japan...?

Question:

I will be in Japan from June to August - which is the worst area/city to go to with all the heat and humidity? And, which are more milder areas of Japan during the summer? (Not including Hokkaido)

Answer:

Most of the large cities like Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya are really humid due to all the heat. I recommend mountainess area like Gifu or Nagano as they tend to be a lot cooler in summer and are a great escape from the heat. Check out places like

Takayama in Gifu - It is a small beautiful city known for its traditional architecture and crafts. Takayama lies in the ancient Hida district tucked away between the mountains of the Japan Alps.

Karuizawa (軽井沢町) in Nagano - is a favourite summer retreat for people of Tokyo and a beautiful place to visit in summer.

Answer:

Check their website.
http://www.keisei.co.jp/keisei/tetudou/s…

How do Japanese people feel in general about Japanese porn?

Question:

Okay, my question is serious: what is the general attitude towards hentai porn in Japan? In where I live it's considered a bit geeky and weird. There are not many people who would be ready to admit that they watch hentai. How is it in Japan? Is it normal? Is it condemned by the society?

Answer:

"Hentai" is used in a different way in English than in Japanese. We do not use it in a way you use.

So basically, there is nothing like "hentai porn" in Japan. It's what English speakers created.

You need to be specific what you are talking about if you want to ask all the same.

But no matter what it is, it's just a minority who watches that kind of specific porn.

Addition:
>I meant mostly cartoon porn.

That kind of manga is not common in Japan. It's not as big as you think it is. So the answer is, most people in Japan just don't care.

No degree = no job in Japan?

Question:

I live in the UK and I am fortunate enough to be graduating next year. I have been sponsored to teach English in Japan, I have secured my employment contract. My boyfriend will also be moving to Japan with me on a Holiday Working Visa but I am a little concerned as he does not have a degree. We have both been studying Japanese for 2 years and both have a years' experience on TEFL. However, we've been looking for jobs for my partner and it seem that if you have no degree you can't get work anywhere!
Could anyone possibly advise if either a) it is even possible to get work in Japan without a degree
or b) if an income of 170,000 per month will be able to cover living costs for two people [topping up the £1500 min we already have in the bank from our departure date]

I would be extremely grateful for any response.

Answer:

Well, if he's got WHV, he can work in Japan. But if he does not speak Japanese, his option is severely limited. But he may have some jobs in "physical labor" like moving, working at a factory, etc.

>b) if an income of 170,000 per month will be able to cover living costs for two people

Where in Japan would you live? In fact, 170,000 is little even for 1 person. You may be able to manage it if you live in countryside. But it's really hard in Tokyo.

Where can I take Japanese lessons near Exeter, NH?

Question:

I lived in Tokyo for three years until 05/2010 and I have studied since 2004. I might get transferred back due to work and want to improve my skills. How much should I pay per hour? Thanks.

Answer:

What about Foreign Language Centre at Uni of Exeter?

Help with colors in Japanese?

Question:

I'm a bit confused with how to use the noun and adjective forms of colors in Japanese.

I know that for the majority of the colors, adding 'i' at the end will make it an adjective, while leaving the 'i' out will make it a noun.

For example:

Kono hana wa akai desu.
[This flower is red.]

Akai hana.
[Red flower.]

Aka wa kirei desu.
[Red is beautiful.]

However, how come the manga, "Ao no Exorcist" is written like that? That confuses me :(
I thought that 'no' was only used for colors like purple and green?

Answer:

To get inspired, I seached "Ao no Exorcist"
You want ”青の祓魔師(エクソシスト)” to be "Aoi Exorcist", right?
"aoi exorcist" sounds like "Blue(-colored) Exorcist", but actually 青 here seems to describe "a blue flame" that Okumura Rin gives off. ”青の(炎を発する/放つ)祓魔師”

Note: "Titles" are tricky. They sometimes ignore basic grammer, the same way as you see in English titles/headlines, which might explain what area52 said.

Hello any person know japan tokyo , minato ku police station phone number/email adress?

Question:

i have big problem in tokyo,,,,i need help ,,thank you

Answer:

You should call the Tokyo Metropolitan Government which administers all the police stations in Tokyo.
03-5321-1111
But, as the person above says, there are six police stations in Minato-ku, you need to identify which station's phone number you are looking for.
1) Akasaka; 2) Atago; 3) Azabu; 4) Takanawa; 5) Mita; 6) Tokyo Wangan
Otherwise, it would not make a sense.
