I will be in Japan from June to August - which is the worst area/city to go to with all the heat and humidity? And, which are more milder areas of Japan during the summer? (Not including Hokkaido)

Most of the large cities like Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya are really humid due to all the heat. I recommend mountainess area like Gifu or Nagano as they tend to be a lot cooler in summer and are a great escape from the heat. Check out places like
Takayama in Gifu - It is a small beautiful city known for its traditional architecture and crafts. Takayama lies in the ancient Hida district tucked away between the mountains of the Japan Alps.
Karuizawa (軽井沢町) in Nagano - is a favourite summer retreat for people of Tokyo and a beautiful place to visit in summer.
