Why does the Japanese like bowing their heads so much?

Is it a respectful way of greetings? I don't see their neighbors, china,korea,etc...do it :/

Answer:

It's somewhat like our handshake, but often a sign of respect. You don't always just bow your head, but your whole upper body. Older. more important people would receive a deeper bow.
