I feel as if we have moved on, which is rather sad but understandable given how fast the news moves in the 21st century.

Answer:

We all have short attention spans. And as for foreign aid, we've given a lot so far and I'm pretty sure they're still receiving some from us. It sounds callous but we have problems of our own to handle as we've been in trouble for a while ourselves.
