Please help me identify this Japanese movie?

Question:

I don't understand Japanese, but from what I remember/could discern about the movie is that it's centered around a guy who looked like he's tracking down this girl who was a photographer. I don't know the nature of their relationship. The plot looks like it's about the guy trying to find the whereabouts of the girl by following her footsteps which she had documented, I think, through photographs (and maybe letters or email). It's revealed in the end that the girl died. In the beginning, it looked like she had moved away to a city, and lived with another girl who wanted to be a model. The photographer did the aspiring model's portfolio, and when they were presented to some talent scouts/agents, they focused more on the photographer's works instead of the model herself. Apparently, the model got jealous and killed the main girl.
I think the guy's name is Makoto? And the photographer was this cool, upbeat girl who liked to eat noodle soup with mayonnaise.

Please help me identify the movie. Thank you!
