Can a foreigner own businesses in Japan?

My uncle owns several import.export businesses and supermarkets in Japan and he is only a Hispanic.

Answer:

Yes, it's possible. Someone posted the same question recently and one comment said that you had to hire at least 2 full-time Japanese employees. I can't say whether that is true or not.
