Do Indonesian need a visa when having transit in Narita Airport for 24 hours?

Question:

My mom will have her flight from WAS-NRT and will continue her flight the next day from NRT-CGK(Jakarta) Does she need a visa?? or I heard Japan Immigration will give a shore pass for people who have transit flight only for 24 hours?

Answer:

It was my impression that you don't need a visa just to transit, as in NOT leave the airport. If you leave the airport, you'll have to go through customs and immigration, then you will need a visa if required for your country of origin.
