Roughly how much would you need for just normal holiday in japan?

Question:

i've never been to japan before and i'm looking to go on holiday with my girlfriend. i'm not looking for going to expensive places or expensive restaurant. Just a place where we'll be able to stay for couple of weeks or more places to visit and places to eat. i would say we're young adults and got jobs and that but i'm not sure how much we'll need that's all. we might go to osaka or maybe tokyo depends on what the answers might be.

thank you for looking/answering

Answer:

Depends on what "normal" is. You don't have to spend a fortune, even if a lot of prices are often high.
If you want to travel, look into getting a JR Rail Pass as well (see www.japanrailpass.net) and you can ride to your heart's content across Japan.
Hotels don't have to be expensive, if you don't mind something more spartan. You can spend as little as 2300 Yen per night - and that's in Tokyo. Try looking at:

In fact both the Toyoko Inn and Superhotel are chains and have hotels all across Japan.
