I'm a writer and I want to write a story that takes place in Japan. However, I've only learned about Japan from anime and manga so I don't want to use those solely as my references. Could someone suggest a book on current Japanese culture?

Go to the library travel section a see if they have a copy of Japan published by Lonely Planet.
