How bad is the nuclear power plant in japan?

Question:

is it going to be like chernobyl? i just hope its under control.

Answer:

The Chernobyl plant had no containment vessel so it released radioactivity readily. The Japanese plants have inner and outer containment vessels. The outer vessels are damaged, but the inner vessels should contain most of the radiation. Its still bad, but not as bad as the big "C".

Here is a short video of what is happening inside on an atomic level.
