Do I have to learn on and kun readings in Japanese?

Question:

I am studying Japanese and was wondering in Kanji if I have to learn both.
For example for one:
On-reading- ichi, itsu
Kun-reading- hito(tsu)

This doesnt make sense at all :3

You have to learn all readings, both on and kun, to acquire Japanese.
