What does this mean in Japan gym class or something? =^_^=?

1-A, 2-A or a 3-A is it for gym class? because I saw it on a cartoon show once ^^

Answer:

if you are talking about in schools, then it should be the grade/number of classrooms.
normally we are divided into classrooms where we stay and study each subjects. we don't change rooms when we finish every subject, instead teachers come to the room to teach us.
in U.S., students go to teachers but in japan teachers come to us.

so 1-A means, in highschool, 1st (10th) grade and class A. 2-A should be 2nd(11th) grade class A.
