10 pts. "Japanese"....?

Question:

Why can some questions be asked without using "desu ka" at the end?

Answer:

Sometimes the right inflection can make it a question, just like in English.

'Kai' and 'no' are often used as question words instead of 'ka'.

As for 'desu' it is not always necessary or correct to use 'desu' in the sentence so people often don't need it in a question where there is another verb.
