I'm going to Japan in July and August and I'm wondering if I need mosquito repellent with DEET with me.
Answer:
Depends on where you are. There are LOTS of mosquitoes around my house due to it being next to a rice field. And there are a lot of them in the park near my house because of a lake. I've taken the dog for a walk and looked down and had a dozen or so on my legs before. So I use it.
In the city though? Not in my experience.
As for DEET, yes, they have stuff available here. But I like the 100% DEET stuff that really works against those tiger mosquitoes, not that 6% stuff.
