How can I help Japan?

I would really like to help Japan, but my parents are very skeptical about where the money is actually going. I wanted to do a bake sale at the neighborhood garage sale we're going to have, but they said to choose a cause closer to home. I don't know what to do, but I truly want to help the Japanese people. I'm 15, and I can't drive, go anywhere, etc.

Any suggestions?

Check the newspaper and see if there are any fundraising events happening nearby! Perhaps you can volunteer at the event and help out!
You won't donate directly, but you would be showing that you want to support Japan!

If you have some money, go around several shops and see if any of them have donation boxes?
