Can I watch ABC, CBS, and Fox shows on the network websites from Japan?

Question:

I like to watch programs on the network websites, so much more convenient than trying to record and watch.

Answer:

As Vinegar Taster said, there are 'services' that can help you with this. They're called VPN or Virtual Private Network. Helps prevent hacking and it's next to impossible for someone to find out your real IP address. You can make your computer seem to be almost anywhere in the world. In your case, you want it to appear to be in the U.S.

There are free services, such as HideMyAss. Some people say they work okay. I've heard that some of them sell your info and some of the software may have viruses. Don't know. There's one service called Strong VPN where you can buy a low level package that can make your computer appear to be in any of four different cities. It costs about $55/year. Then you can connect to sites that check to see what region you are in.

NetFlix is an economical source of TV programs and movies. Currently it costs $8/month. First month is a trial and is free. Lots of the movies are DVD only, and surprisingly enough it's not just the new movies that fall into this category. But at least in my opinion, what you do get is worth $8/month.
