How much would it cost from the UK to Japan for a one week holiday?

Question:

Can I have it in pounds please not dollars.

Okay now we got that out of the way how much would it cost to stay in Japan, Osaka.
Hotel, Resturants, Air plane ticket and back and ect what would be the total of it?.

Answer:

Let's try to break up component wise first:

1) Air ticket - round trip : Depends on the season but you may consider approx 600 Pounds for economy.

2) Hotel: For Tokyo minimum range would be 70 to 100 pounds per night. For Osaka etc minimum 50 to 80 Pounds per night. Options to cut down this cost: Home Stay using a website like Hospitality Club or using weekly apartments. Another innovative way is to stay in Love Hotels which would be equally good but quite cheaper than the standard hotels.

3) Internal Travel: The domestic travel is quite expensive in Japan, especially if you travel by Shinkansen (Bullet Train). For example Toyo to Osaka round trip would be Pounds 250. Ways to cut cost: rail Pass (www.japanrailpass.net), www.jrpass.com, www.kintetsu.com/jrpass) and/or using night buses (www.japan-guide.com/e/e2015.html or www.willexpress.com etc).

4) Food: Again depends but minimum you should consider 4 to 5 pounds per meal.

5) Entertainment: No limit.

Please note that as I have taken care of some students who wanted to visit Japan, I have mentioned mostly the minimum pricing.
