What does taberareru mean in japanese?

Question:

i dont know what it means can you also give me some examples on how to use the ~rareru or reru

Answer:

The root here "tabe-" is "to eat".

"-reru" is the potential suffix, meaning, something can be done, or is "doable". "Tabereru" たべれるmeans one "can eat". As in "I can/I am able to eat rocks."(wow!)

"-rareru" can be considered as modifying the potential form to the passive potential, meaning "something can *be* done". "Taberareru" たべられる means "it can be eaten" or "it is edible", as in "Rocks are generally not edible." (dur-hurr)

Both forms can be further modified with the negating suffix "-nai". "Taberenai" means "[subject] cannot eat", "taberarenai" means "[subject] cannot *be* eaten."

So there you go, ain't agglutinating languages fun?
