I need help with katakana in Japanese!!!!!!!!!?

Question:

I'm doing my Japanese assignment, but something confuses me, and I want to clear it out...

I have to fill in the blank with the given syllable (part of the word). For example, the given syllable is je, so I type in je with the MS Japanese Input and I get じぇ, but in the book je should be ジェ. The syllables I m working with are additional syllables for foreign words, are they not available in the input?

Answer:

If you want to instantly convert something you're typing to katakana, hit your F7 key before hitting enter.

In other words, type out じぇ, hit your F7 key to convert it to ジェ, THEN hit 'enter'
