How to say, "I did not have time this semester to take Japanese" in Japanese?

Question:

I am not sure how to correctly say, "I did not have time this semester to take Japanese." I am writing to a Japanese penpal and would really like to get this sentence right!

Here is my attempt, but I'm sure this is not grammatically correct!
これ学期に日本語は時間がありませんでした。

Thank you so much for any help!

Answer:

Your sentence is a bit corrupted, nice try though!
It literally ment:
This is semester, Japanese is the hour don't have.

この学期に忙しい。
だから日本語を習ってわない

I changed some things to make it sound more fitting to the Japanese language.

This semester, I am busy.
Therefore, I didn't learn Japanese.
