I haven't found too many organizations accepting anything but monetary donations.
I'm putting 2 links for organization accepting non-monetary donations; 1 in Seattle the other in Cincinnati. Of course, if don't live near there, then I would assume giving $ will go further than spending goods to those organizations. I spent around $250 sending 4 flat rate boxes to my family in Japan so I don't recommend doing care packages on your own!
