I've got a few 100 and 20 dollar bills with me in Japan and I'd like to convert them to Yen. Any place where I can do that?

All banks will exchange paper cash
and a response to your Edit: I guess you are not in Japan because if you were to stumble into a bank, walk over to the foreign exchange currency counter, produce the bills in question, plop them down with a passport you would receive the equivalent in Yen. No need to talk - just smile
